So, What Have You Got?

Happy Friday, Traveler! We’ve both made it through another week. I knew you could do it!
I’ve been thinking about what, at this early stage in the game, I can truthfully say Predictor Productions has ready off the grill to serve up for a content-hungry culture-eater. After all, the company (still sounds strange to say) has been in existence since late 2022. What have we got for you now?
Sure, we have a plethora of projects in the pipeline featuring our twin time-traveling troubadours Mister 1960 and The Eighteenth Centurion; including a double VTuber debut in (we hope) early 2024, which will usher in a new era of regular stream-related content, as well as nostalgic music covers (nostalgicovers?) inspired by talented musical outfits like Scott Bradlee’s Postmodern Jukebox, which will begin to be released one at a time, starting next month (more on those later).
One of my most significant discoveries over the course of founding this company has been just how high the cost of entry is to the content-creation game. My professional background is in the world of audio production for FM radio. As you can imagine, researching all the tech and savvy required to hop aboard the “making stuff for the denizens of the web” bandwagon has been an overwhelming experience, there is no “one-size fits all” approach to tech or tradecraft, and the tools needed are constantly becoming outdated/replaced. Helpful tutorials written by kind souls even six months ago are now rendered obsolete and misleading due to the perpetually changing landscape. Many has been the time where I (a thirtysomething who is increasingly confronted with reminders he is no longer young) have asked myself- “Am I too old for all of this?” The impression I get as of this week is that, unlike other creative pastimes one might try one’s hand at, content creation is not a case of ‘try-and-fail’, but rather a case of ‘spend a small fortune to reach the starting line, and then try-and-fail’.
Oh well. Enough moping for today. While you wait for fresh content to start trickling onto our social media pages, allow me to point you towards an existing source of aural adventures featuring our Midcentury Millennial, Mister 1960; ‘The Atomic Hour’ is a weekly rock and roll show produced for Public Radio and hosted on PRX. Featuring all the midcentury music of the late 1940s thru the early 1970s, as well as Rock and Roll Revivalism from the 1980s and 1990s, and Brand New Oldies from the 21st century. Just under 100 episodes (as of this writing) are now available to listeners to enjoy for free on PRX, but due to the sheer number of copyrighted songs featured in each episode, we cannot host it on our own platforms at this time. New episodes are uploaded every other week.
Write-Ups detailing what little we know about Mister 1960 and his 18th Century “grandcestor” will eventually appear on this website, but for now, perhaps perusing the Midcentury Millennial’s musical odysseys through Time and Space will help you get to know him a little bit.
Until Next Week, friend. Be Well, Do Good Work, and Touch Some Grass today.
